I remember mostly waking up and feeling grateful as I made this mandala. Grateful to be at JFKU, grateful to be in this class, grateful to be back after the Thanksgiving break. And I remembered feeling the same feeling I had after the 3 week summer break; a great relief to be back in school. It is some kind of anchor for me; some kind of validation for a reality that is so hard to find in my everyday world. Again and again I remind myself that I need to cultivate that in my life more. I think that I am not sure how to sometimes.
Before leaving class last nite I talked to Robbyn about doing my mandalas and she affirmed that it would be a good nite to do it since it was a full moon. It was so nice to talk to Robbyn and have this understanding about the full moon without having to go into explanations or justifications. We have a shared knowledge about the moon being full and the significance of that. It is almost like speaking another language or being in a secret club. I realize that I hunger for that kind of reality more than I let on to myself.
Really like how you captured the feeling here; I agree that it has a bit of the "other world" to it. The interaction of the two worlds (awake vs sleeping) comes through nicely. I'm somehow comforted.
ReplyDeleteThe homeage to the moon is apparent but not obvious. It looks like a moon cell; or maybe what thde moon does do us on a cellular level. Very cool!
Though I'm still new to the school, I'm amazed at how it really does feel like we are in a secret club. Like I found my tribe. You don't have to over explain, there is no need to feel nervous about "being too weird". If you want to share, I'd love to hear how you might integrate the "JFK life" into your own.
ReplyDeleteAhh, yes,so amazing when the power of relationship is cultivated with intention and purpose....its truly an honor to witness the unfolding of the unique creative potential of each student- there also seems to be a very powerful connection and resonating happen between the 3 of you and through all of us...i am excited to see how the dynamic will change over the next few quarters, perhaps in retrospect it will feel somewhat like taking a "mandala temp" over time!
